Apspriede: Par elektroenerģijas uzglabāšanas tehnoloģiju (t.sk. bateriju) tirgus attīstības perspektīvām Latvijā

As with any new market segment, the adoption of energy storage technologies also faces certain obstacles. These include the relatively high cost of battery acquisition this year and insufficient awareness of the opportunities these technologies provide. Such factors may discourage households or businesses from using them. In Lithuania, a specific subsidy program has been developed for these technologies, helping to cover part of the battery purchase costs.

Considering that the government will be updating the National Energy and Climate Plan in the coming years, this is a good moment to plan such an initiative in Latvia as well, though it naturally requires a certain investment of time and resources in working with policymakers.

The discussion brought together 14 industry representatives and experts.

During the meeting, a vision for the development perspectives of the battery market was presented, and participants discussed whether market players are ready for such a joint initiative.
