Jelgavā notika diskusija par ilgtspējīgu mobilitāti Latvijā

On March 5 in Jelgava, at the joint meeting of the Climate, Energy and Environment Coordination Working Group of the Zemgale Planning Region, representatives of municipalities, institutions, and experts sought sustainable solutions to climate change, discussing the most effective adaptation strategies and the necessary changes across various sectors.

The Chairman of the Board of the Association, Armands Gūtmanis, presented the organization’s role in the decarbonization of freight and municipal transport, emphasizing that Latvia lacks state support mechanisms for zero-emission vehicles, which limits the competitiveness of companies. The Association is working on policy recommendations and support programs to promote the attraction of EU funds, freight transport electrification, and hydrogen solutions. As a first step, recommendations for the introduction of zero-emission vehicles are being developed, and a survey on the necessary support mechanisms has been launched.
