Information and Guidelines for Latvian Agricultural Professionals to Achieve Sustainability Goals in Agriculture

In cooperation with the Latvian Farmers' Parliament (LOSP), we have launched the project "Informing Latvian Agricultural Professionals and Developing Guidelines for Achieving Sustainability Goals in Agriculture." The project is being implemented under the Environmental Protection and Climate Programme (EKII) open call for proposals, "Promoting Public Awareness of the Importance and Opportunities of Climate Neutrality and Climate Resilience." It will be carried out across all regions of Latvia and is aimed at reducing the impacts of climate change in the agricultural sector.

Implementation: The project will include a national conference, a series of seminars, and the development of Latvia's first nationally tailored guidelines that bring together carbon farming approaches, renewable energy solutions, and climate-friendly agricultural practices in a single resource. The project addresses the current lack of unified, reliable information and the spread of misinformation within the agricultural sector.

Expected Reach: The project aims to reach 2,000 agricultural professionals, representing approximately 4% of Latvia's 50,000 farmers (Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia, 2023). This target will be achieved through the activities outlined above, supported by outreach via national and industry media, direct email communication with members of the Latvian Farmers' Parliament (LOSP), and dedicated project websites.

Target Audience

The project's primary target audience is agricultural professionals who are considering the adoption of carbon farming and renewable energy solutions. Their knowledge and understanding are essential for achieving sustainability goals in agriculture, and their decisions and practices play an important role in mitigating climate change.

Funding: The project "Informing Latvian Agricultural Professionals and Developing Guidelines for Achieving Sustainability Goals in Agriculture" (Project No. EKII-9/26) is implemented with €55,600.92 in funding provided by the Latvian Environmental Investment Fund under the Environmental Protection and Climate Programme (EKII) of the State Budget of the Republic of Latvia.
